SHARON HILL, an international coach on business etiquette, will tell you the dos and don't of making a positive first impression, whether you're involved in a business meal, networking one-on-one, or making your pitch to a group.

Working with State Government & the NC Stimulus Package
Submitted by Claire Doyle Ragin on Mon, 04/06/2009 - 16:36Our first presenter will be DAVID RHOADES, executive director for marketing at the NC Dept. of Commerce. David was an independent marketing consultant and founding member of ICA before joining the Commerce Dept.
He will discuss freelance opportunities in state government, budget cycles, and give tips on how to establish relationships with people who need our services. In addition, we'll hear the inside story on differences in the marketing strategy and tools for reaching a local audience vs. marketing North Carolina to the world. Does the state use Social Media? We'll find out.
Our SECOND SPEAKER will be a representative from the NC Office of Economic Recovery and Investment, the office that oversees the federal stimulus program. We can expect to hear an overview of the state's stimulus package and learn potential contract opportunities for freelancers.
