SBTDC Marketplace 2009, May 27

Has anyone ever attended an event that the Small Business and Technology Development Center holds annually, called "The Marketplace 2009: Procurement Opportunities for Small Business"? The next one is being held in RTP on May 27, and I'd love to find out if anyone has first-hand knowledge.

I've never been...it looks like it's mostly about getting work from government agencies, coincidentally the topic of our meeting that night. I was on a list for awhile where I got notification of RFPs from the State...most of them had very arcane and inconsistent requirements for submitting a bid; just figuring out what they needed presented, and how, was time-consuming. It didn't seem to be an efficient use of my time so I never pursued them further.

 

That said, I've gotten some decent projects from city and regional agencies that were more direct in their process of soliciting bids. I'm interested to ask David Rhoades about the RFP process when he speaks on Wednesday.
